Bless me, readers, for I have sinned. It has been over a week since my last post.
We have managed to follow my Lenten Calendar pretty faithfully and have found that this has been a really enriching experience. In conversation with friends about this we noted that giving something up for 6 weeks or even taking on something for 6 weeks can be so difficult that give up early on and don’t really seek to redress that. Keeping the devotions varied but meaningful has allowed us to keep going and is a constant reminder that we are in a period of sacrifice and preparation.
Lent is a time to change our ways and come into a closer relationship with God and, in turn, each other. I feel that this can be an empty gesture if come Easter we return to our bad habits or sinful ways. By contrast, this Lent I hope (and pray) that we will be able to carry on some of the good habits we are developing.
